Overview
If all machines
were perfectly balanced in terms of production rates and capacities,
calculation of line OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) would be
simple. But perfectly balanced production lines are rare and do not
represent the real picture in most plants. Most manufacturing plants
do not contain a straight line process with a part traveling from one
machine to the next in perfect harmony with all other machines.
Processes are usually complicated, with machines in series and
parallel, and they usually include side processes.
Solution
The KeyTone solution collects WIP data at all stations both at the
beginning of a work process and at the completion of the work process.
In addition to the WIP data collected at every station, the solution
also captures the equipment state. This real time WIP data capture
combined with the equipment state provides the ability to accurately
monitor equipment utilization and productivity
